Thunderbird’s Africa Business Club commenced Black History Month with a students’ screening of Africa’s Great Civilizations, a PBS docuseries by Henry Lewis Gates. It’s extremely important to show that African-American history began before slavery.
2/25 Black History Sip N’ Learn
During the dead hour on Tuesday 2/25, Africa Business Club met to quiz students about the recorded African-American contributions in America through the use of flashcards, accompanied by a variety of African coffees. Did you know that the birthplace of coffee is on the African continent? Ethiopia in fact!
What Black History Month means to me
Black History month in the American context is a celebration of African-American history in its entirety. This encompasses the history of civilizations on the African continent before the European arrival, as well as the myriad of African-American contributions to America since their forced arrival. From science to technology, to art and more. It’s a celebration of human history.
